Sunnyside Treatment Plant

New Wastewater Treatment Plant Design Underway
Construction for the new Sunnyside Wastewater Treatment Plant has begun. To be located on a 14-acre site next to SR204, the Plant is planned to begin operations in 2011-2012. Compared with the District's existing facility next to Ebey Slough, the Sunnyside WWTP will have greater capacity, contain more modern technology, be more reliable, more environmentally friendly, and be better designed.

The new plant is necessary to handle the increased population and commercial growth in the District. It also will keep us in compliance with State and Federal requirements. And, it is actually less expensive to build a new plant than to expand the old one, which is located in a flood plain.

Over the coming year, there will be meetings and workshops with the public to show you our progress and to seek your opinions.
